This Annual Report of the King County Sheriff’s Office presents data regarding police services during 2002.
Abstract
Statistical data are offered for King County Sheriff operations within its five precincts. Crimes by precincts are first summarized, and then each precinct is given its own chapter with in-depth data. The precinct chapters each include a map of the precinct, a crime summary for the precinct, and then a breakdown of crimes by type of offense. The types of offenses covered include Part I and Part II offenses by patrol districts, larcenies by patrol districts, and domestic violence offenses by patrol districts. Also included in each precinct chapter is a discussion of community policing efforts. The second part of the annual report focuses on the criminal investigation division and offers data on major and special investigations, specialized unit activities, and communications activities. Data on adult and juvenile charges, arrests, and citations are also offered, as is a section on special operations such as traffic enforcement activities and metro transit activity. The initial crime summary states that in 2002, there were 22 homicides, 370 robberies, and 706 aggravated assaults within King County. Dispatched calls for services in 2002 totaled 122,651; there were 10,618 adult arrests made; and 2,221 juvenile arrests made within the County. In general, during the year 2002 there was a decrease of 2.3 percent for Part I offenses and a decrease of 4.3 percent for Part II offenses compared to the year 2001.
