Through funding, outreach, local assistance, and the collecting and dissemination of information, OCJP promotes partnerships to achieve safe communities by enhancing their effectiveness in preventing and interdicting crime, supporting crime victims and their rights, and holding offenders accountable. The programs and activities supported by OCJP are presented under its various divisions and branches. The Victim Services Division consists of the following branches: Domestic Violence, Victim/Witness, Sexual Assault, and Children's Branch. The Public Safety Division has branches that deal with crime suppression, gang violence suppression, drug enforcement, and juvenile justice and delinquency prevention. The Program Evaluation Division consists of the Monitoring and Audits Branch and the Program Evaluation Branch. Over the past several years, the OCJP has focused on funding various statewide and local initiatives. In 2002, including Federal programs, approximately 1,200 grants were administered by OCJP, and over $200 million were distributed. The amounts of the grant awards given to various programs throughout the State in 2002 are provided, along with descriptions of and data on the various programs funded.
