Guyana’s geographical border, bordered by Venezuela, Brazil, and Suriname, has made it possible for illegal drugs to be taken in and out of Guyana with relative ease. Guyana recently convened a meeting to establish a network of agencies that are involved in drug related activities. The Guyana Drug Information Network (GuyanaDin), in its infancy proposes to include other agencies from various parts of the country and modify the data collection instruments from institutions. This report discusses the expansion and sustainability of such a Network and what constraints exist and how they can be combated. The report concludes with annual data on Guyana’s drug consumption, drug treatment services, drug arrests, drug seizures, and school surveys. In addition, it offers an overview of the drug situation and trends in Guyana which includes main drug of choice and subsequent drugs and factors affecting trends. Tables and appendices
