The AOC, established by statute, provides a variety of support services to the entire State court system. The director, who is appointed by the Tennessee Supreme Court, is chief administrative officer for the courts and oversees the AOC. This report describes the work of the AOC's Executive Division, which provides overall agency management and administration; education and training for judges, clerks, staff attorneys, and others in the judicial system; technology in the courts; human resources; and fiscal services. The statistical section of this report is divided into three major sections: appellate (Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, and Court of Criminal Appeals) caseload data; State trial court (chancery, circuit, and criminal) filings and dispositions data; and jury and non-jury damages and torts data.
