This Annual Report of the Texas Judicial System for fiscal year 2002 presents a broad range of court statistics, information on court structure and jurisdiction, and descriptions of the activities of various court-related agencies and organizations.
Abstract
A listing of the membership of the Texas Judicial Council is followed by a presentation of the annual reports of the following judicial support agencies: the Texas Judicial Council, the Office of Court Administration, the Judicial Committee on Information Technology, and the Task Force on Indigent Defense. Descriptions of the structure and operation of the judicial branch are followed by an overview of court activity for fiscal years 1993-2002. For each court category for each year, data are presented on caseloads, case processing, and case dispositions. Separate sections of this report present statistics for each of the following courts: State Supreme Court, Court of Criminal Appeals, courts of appeals, administrative judicial regions, district courts, county-level courts, district and county-level juvenile courts, justice of the peace courts, and municipal courts. The data address caseload trends, court personnel (judges), and case dispositions. Data and information are also presented for alternative dispute resolution centers. Extensive tables and figures
