This report provides data on the State of Washington’s correctional population for fiscal year 2006, ending September 2005.
Abstract
Following a glossary section, all information contained in the report is offered in table or graph format. The first section describes the average daily population and capacity by month for the correctional facilities in Washington State and for work release. The second section describes the characteristics of inmates for all three categories of resident, pre-release, and work release. Data are offered by race, by offense, by age, and by location. The third section focuses on the characteristics of populations admitted to adult correctional facilities in Washington; information is offered by month, type of admission, age, sex, county, and offense type. Releases by type of release and length of stay by offense type are described in the fourth section, followed by data on custody distributions of inmates within institutions, pre-release, and work release throughout Washington. Data are presented on current custody classifications by location, by population assignment and sex, by most recent placement reason, and by override reason and score. A final section presents client characteristics for fiscal year 2006, including statewide violation trends. Tables, figures
