The typical or most representative Wyoming family consists of one school-aged child of divorced parents or a single parent who have only a high school education or at most an associate’s degree. If divorced, the mother is almost always the person who assumes care of the child. The mother has a good chance of working multiple jobs in order to support herself and her child. She will find it particularly hard to live in Wyoming due to the high gender wage gap. This report presents the most pressing issues affecting Wyoming families which include: domestic violence, funding for quality pre-K programs statewide, internet safety at home, methamphetamine child endangerment, stricter limits for payday loans, divorce, DUI child endangerment, quality childcare programs, healthy children and adults through permanency, emotional health and well-being, prevention of child neglect, child injury and fatality, and Wyoming sex offender laws. Recommendations, for each of these issues are presented that could positively impact these typical Wyoming families.
