This special report on Saudi Arabia's Naif Arab University for Security Sciences (NAUSS) highlights its academic and professional activities in promoting an educational strategy for combatting terrorism and organized crime.
Abstract
NAUSS' main objective is to promote safety and security in the Arab world through education, research, and professional training at every level. This is done through well-organized and high-quality multidisciplinary academic curricula, basic and applied research, and the provision of basic and advanced professional training in various disciplines of security sciences. This report focuses on NAUSS' record of academic, professional, and public awareness activities directed toward the identification and prevention of terrorism and organized crime in the Arab world. The academic and administrative organizational structure is also presented. Following an overview of NAUSS' history, goals, and academic and administrative structure, the report describes the program of NAUSS' College of Graduate Studies (CGS). This section of the report addresses CGS' objectives, departments, efforts to combat terrorism, and a listing of titles of Ph.D. and Masters Theses. The report's next section profiles NAUSS' Training College (TC). It covers the TC's objectives, programs, departments, and workshops. NAUSS' College of Forensic Sciences (CFS) is described in the next section. Attention is given to CFS' objectives, departments, efforts to combat terrorism, curriculum, and applied training courses. Remaining sections of the report describe the objectives and counterterrorist activities and programs of NAUSS' Studies and Research Center, Information and Computer Center, and Department of International Cooperation.
