The article discusses emergent themes resulting from the processing of the trauma egg intervention, as well as recommendations for future research. The emergent themes focused on the comprehension gained from the intervention itself, as well as the impact of describing trauma and sharing the concomitant emotion within a group context. The understanding that the participants gained from the use of the trauma egg extended to both their own situation, and that of their sexually addicted spouses. The article notes that an estimated 17 to 37 million Americans struggle with sexual addiction, the majority of those being heterosexual men. Based on the faulty core beliefs of sexual co-addicts, the treatment described in this article emphasized early trauma wounds and the resulting issues of shame. The article discusses the results of a pilot group that was focused on the use of the trauma egg as an intervention for three Caucasian women married to sexually addicted men, and the discussion was derived from the observations made of those people.
