The format of this 2007 report has changed since the 2006 report. The first section presents an overview of statistical trends in recorded criminal incidents for January 2006 to December 2007. It also summarizes New South Wales (NSW) and Local Government Area (LGA) trends over the past 5 years; and it presents data to show which major offenses have had the largest upward and downward trends across LGAs. The second section presents the monthly number of recorded criminal incidents, trends, and offending rate comparisons for NSW regions and LGAs. Recorded victims of murder are reported. Trend analyses use the full 24 months of 2006 and 2007, and incident totals are reported for these years across the major crime categories. The third section of the report presents three tables that address all types of criminal incidents for NSW, one each for 2005, 2006, and 2007. Each table reports the incident counts by month of reporting for murder, recorded victims, and driving offenses. The fourth section provides monthly numbers for alleged offenders by type of process pursued for criminal incidents recorded by the police in the reference years. There are three tables in this section, one each for 2005, 2006, and 2007.
