There are summaries of six research reports. One report assesses the relevance of the property rules of Finland's Marriage Act, which is nearly 80 years old, under the economic realities of present-day marriages. A second research report compares delinquent behavior in Nordic capital cities, with attention to prevalence, incidence, patterns, age of onset, police contact, and the impact of immigration. A third report summarizes work that has been done on a legislative plan for Finland's Government that is expected to be adopted by the end of 2007. This is followed by a report on crime trends (1997-2006) in Finland for specific offenses, as well as juvenile crime; women as perpetrators and victims of crime; foreigners, immigrants, and crime; fear of crime; and the role of alcohol in crime. Also discussed in this report is Finland's system of criminal justice. A fifth report reviews the history and contemporary forms of the punishment of juveniles in Finland, followed by a report of research on the criminality of young men with immigrant backgrounds and how their criminality is managed by components of the criminal justice system. The six "Research Communications" presented are brief statements on a specific research activity sponsored by the Criminological Unit. These communications pertain to self-reported delinquency among Helsinki adolescents, 2006; court adjustments in debtor payment plans for 2005; a longitudinal study of crimes by children in Helsinki and social services interventions; the sanctioning of aggravated narcotics offenses; households' payment problems (2002-2005); and alternatives for the regulation of businesses.
