This video, Voices of Our Children, presents interviews with Native American youth and adults working to better the lives of Native American children through culturally-based prevention and intervention programs.
Abstract
This 18 minute video, Voices of Our Children, was produced by the Focus Foundation, Inc., with grants from the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Juvenile Justice Programs, and the Juvenile Justice Advisory Committee of the Minnesota Department of Economic Security. The video contains interviews with Native American adolescents and adults about the importance of using Native American culture such as music, dance, and song to stress the importance of remaining drug and alcohol free and improving the lives of Native Americans living on reservations and in the surrounding communities. The interviews with the young people show their desire for being proud of their Native American heritage and of the need to keep their traditions alive to maintain Native American communities for future generations.
