Highlights of the criminal and law enforcement activity in the State of Alabama for 2010 include: 26,470 persons were arrested for Part I offenses, accounting for 14 percent of all arrests in the State; of those arrested for Part I offenses, 13 percent were juveniles, 67 percent were male, 49 percent were Black, and 51 percent were White; 165,131 persons were arrested for Part II offenses, of which 4 percent were juveniles, 74 percent were males, and 57 percent were White; 160,502 property crimes were reported in the State, a 5-percent decrease from 2009; 18,239 violent crimes were reported in 2010, a 10-percent decrease from 2009; and there were 255 homicides in Alabama in 2010, a 20-percent decrease from 2009. This report from the Alabama Criminal Justice Information Center presents data on criminal and law enforcement activity for the entire State for 2010. Data for the report were obtained from reports submitted by law enforcement agencies to the State's Uniform Crime Reporting program.
