THIS DOCUMENT SETS FORTH STANDARDS FOR LEGISLATION TO ENSURE THE SECURITY OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE INFORMATION SYSTEMS, THE CONFIDENTIALITY, COMPLETENESS, AND ACCURACY OF INFORMATION, AND THE PRIVACY OF INDIVIDUALS.
Abstract
THESE STANDARDS WERE PROMULGATED BY SEARCH GROUP, INCORPORATED (WHOSE PREDECESSOR WAS PROJECT SEARCH). ALTHOUGH THE STANDARDS ARE DIRECTED PRIMARILY AT FEDERAL LEGISLATION, THEY INCLUDE RECOMMENDED PROCEDURES THAT ARE DIRECTLY RELEVANT TO STATE AND LOCAL CRIMINAL JUSTICE AGENCIES. THEY ARE INTENDED TO BE USEFUL AS GUIDES FOR PREPARING STATE LEGISLATION AND STATE, LOCAL AND INDIVIDUAL AGENCY REGULATIONS AND PROCEDURES.
