RESULTS OF AN EVALUATION BY PARTICIPATING OFFICERS ON A FAMILY CRISIS INTERVENTION SEMINAR AIMED SPECIFICALLY AT THE SPECIAL TYPES OF FAMILY PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED IN SUBURBAN SETTINGS.
Abstract
THE SEMINAR IS BRIEFLY DESCRIBED AND THE RESULT OF NUMEROUS NEW REQUESTS BY POLICE FOR MENTAL HEALTH CONSULTATION IS DISCUSSED. RESULTS OF THE PARTICIPANT QUESTIONNAIRE SUGGEST THAT A TRAINING APPROACH DIFFERENT FROM URBAN PROGRAMS IS NEEDED AND WANTED BY SUBURBAN POLICE. THE AUTHOR CALLS FOR MORE COOPERATION BETWEEN POLICE AND COMMUNITY MENTAL HEALTH AGENCIES IN DEVELOPING SIMILAR TRAINING PROGRAMS.
