REPORT, DATED JUNE 15, 1973, ON A PROGRAM TO ASSIST THE STATE IN THE PREPARATION OF SPECIFICATIONS FOR A STUDY TO DEVELOP A LONG-RANGE PUBLIC SAFETY TELECOMMUNICATION PLAN.
Abstract
DETAILED ARE THE FOUR MAJOR SYSTEMS WHICH WERE RESEARCHED AND ANALYZED IN ORDER TO DETERMINE THE PRESENT STATUS OF TELECOMMUNICATIONS IN THE STATE OF LOUISIANA. THE SYSTEMS ARE THE LOUISIANA LAW ENFORCEMENT COMPUTERIZED COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM, THE LOUISIANA CRIMINAL JUSTICE INFORMATION SYSTEM, THE STATE POLICE COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM, AND THE STATE-WIDE PUBLIC SAFETY COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM. A FEASIBILITY STUDY OF A STATE-WIDE MICROWAVE TELECOMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM IS ALSO PRESENTED IN ADDITION, SOME BASIC REQUIREMENTS FOR IMPLEMENTATION OF THE STUDY ARE SUGGESTED, INCLUDING A RECOMMENDATION FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF AN INTERGOVERMENTAL TELECOMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE AND THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A STATE OFFICE OF TELECOMMUNICATIONS MANAGEMENT.
