THE CRITERIA USED TO DETERMINE THE RELEVANCE OF STATE AND LOCAL ORDINANCES ARE LISTED IN THIS DOCUMENT. THIS 1976 ISSUE INCLUDES INFORMATION CONTAINED IN THE 1974 EDITION AND THE 1975 SUPPLEMENT, UPDATED WHERE NECESSARY, PLUS NEW MATERIAL, SUCH AS A QUICK REFERENCE GUIDE TO FEDERAL REGULATIONS OF FIREARMS SALES. IN ADDITION TO INFORMATION ON LAWS AND ORDINANCES, THIS DOCUMENT INCLUDES QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS RELATING TO FIREARMS; DIGESTS OF FIREARMS RULINGS BY THE BUREAU OF ALCOHOL, TOBACCO, AND FIREARMS; THE 1976 CURIOS AND RELICS LIST; INFORMATION ON THE IMPORTATION OF FIREARMS; AND INFORMATION ON INTERSTATE TRANSPORT OF PERSONALLY OWNED FIREARMS. ADDRESSES OF THE REGULATORY ENFORCEMENT FIELD OFFICES AND THE REGIONAL AND CRIMINAL ENFORCEMENT DISTRICT OFFICES ARE PROVIDED AS WELL. THE LOCAL ORDINANCES INCLUDED IN THIS PUBLICATION WERE OBTAINED FROM A QUESTIONNAIRE MAILED IN DECEMBER 1975 TO APPROXIMATELY 39,000 POLITICAL SUBDIVISIONS THROUGHOUT THE UNITED STATES. THEY ARE PRESENTED IN A STATE-BY-STATE LISTING IN THE FINAL SECTION OF THIS PUBLICATION. (SNI ABSTRACT)
