THE PRESENTENCE INVESTIGATOR SHOULD HAVE A LARGER ROLE IN THE JUDICIAL PROCESS, INCLUDING EARLIER USE OF THE INVESTIGATION REPORT, INVESTIGATOR PARTICIPATION IN COURT PROCEEDINGS AND DECISIONS, AND ACCESS TO PRISONERS.
Abstract
THE PRESENTENCE INVESTIGATION PROVIDES THE COURT AND THE PROSECUTOR WITH INFORMATION ON THE PERSONALITY AND SOCIAL BACKGROUND OF THE OFFENDER. THE AUTHOR ARGUES THAT THE INVESTIGATOR'S ROLE REQUIRES THE APPLICATION OF SOCIAL TREATMENT AND SOCIAL EDUCATION SKILLS AND SHOULD BE INSTITUTIONALIZED AS SUCH. --IN GERMAN
