TWO-PART FINAL REPORT ON THE CORRECTIONS INFORMATION SYSTEM (CINSYS), A SUBSYSTEM OF THE ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI REGIONAL CRIMINAL JUSTICE INFORMATION SYSTEM.
Abstract
THE HEART OF THIS SUBSYSTEM IS A CORRECTIONS INDEX THAT IS SHARED BY ALL CORRECTIONAL AGENCIES AND INSTITUTIONS. THE RECORDS CONTAINED IN THE INDEX CONTAIN ALL THE 'IDENTIFIER' DATA ELEMENTS NECESSARY TO COMMUNICATE WITH INTERFACING FILES AND SYSTEMS. THE PURPOSE OF THE INDEX RECORD, CREATED AUTOMATICALLY AT THE TIME OF ARREST AND BOOKING THROUGH THE INTERFACING ARREST FILE, IS TO INDICATE ACTIVE CORRECTIONS STATUS AND TO POINT TO THE AGENCY THAT HOLDS CURRENT OFFENDER INFORMATION. A TRACKING FILE IS ALSO PART OF THE SUBSYSTEM CONCEPT. VOLUME ONE OF THIS REPORT, THE EXECUTIVE SUMMARY, BRIEFLY PRESENTS THE BACKGROUND THAT WAS DEVELOPED BEFORE ARRIVING AT THE SUBSYSTEM CONCEPT. THE CORRECTIONS SUBSYSTEM CONCEPT IS SUMMARIZED AND THE PHASES AND TASKS OF A PLAN FOR IMPLEMENTATION ARE LISTED. VOLUME TWO, THE TECHNICAL REPORT, CONTAINS A DETAILED PRESENTATION OF THE CORRECTIONS SUBSYSTEM CONCEPT, AN ANALYSIS OF ITS IMPACT, AND A PLAN FOR ITS IMPLEMENTATION. A PRIORITY SCHEDULE ADDRESSES THE DEVELOPMENTAL SEQUENCE OF THE CORRECTIONS SUBSYSTEM'S MAJOR ACTIVITIES.
