Abstract
DISCUSSED IS THE INFLUENCE OF NON-GERMAN CRIMINOLOGICAL RESEARCH, PARTICULARLY THAT IN THE UNITED STATES. COMPARED ARE RESEARCH TRENDS IN WEST GERMANY AND IN COMMUNIST EAST GERMANY. --IN GERMAN STUDY ALSO EXAMINES THE GOALS OF PROSECUTION, THE LEVEL OF COORDINATION BETWEEN POLICE AND LEGAL AUTHORITIES, AND THE EFFICIENCY OF POLICE INVESTIGATIONS FROM THE POINT OF VIEW OF SUBSEQUENT CRIMINAL PROCEEDINGS. THE AIMS OF THE STUDY WERE REALIZED BY MEANS OF THREE EMPIRICAL METHODS: ANALYSIS OF 4,588 CASES OF LARCENY, FRAUD, AND EMBEZZLEMENT IN EIGHT STATE COURTS IN WEST GERMANY IN 1970; INTERVIEWS WITH 79 POLICE OFFICERS INVESTIGATING THE CASES; AND EIGHT GROUP DISCUSSIONS WITH THE INTERVIEWEES. --IN GERMAN
