Abstract
THE SIX VOLUME FINAL REPORT OF THE NATIONAL COMMISSION FOR THE REVIEW OF FEDERAL AND STATE LAWS RELATING TO WIRETAPPING AND ELECTRONIC SURVEILLANCE (MORE COMMONLY KNOWN AS THE WIRETAP COMMISSION) WAS PUBLISHED IN SPRING, 1976. IT DEALS, INTER ALIA, WITH THE EXTENT OF BOTH LEGAL AND ILLEGAL TECHNICAL SURVEILLANCE WITHIN THE UNITED STATES AND THE ADEQUACY OF CURRENT LAWS TO KEEP IT WITHIN CONSTITUTIONAL LIMITS. ONE OF THESE VOLUMES, ENTITLED COMMISSION STUDIES, ADDRESSES THE TECHNICAL ASPECTS OF ELECTRONIC SURVEILLANCE AND TECHNICAL SURVEILLANCE COUNTERMEASURES TECHNIQUES AND EQUIPMENT. THIS ARTICLE PRESENTS A SUMMARY OF A PORTION OF THAT REPORT.
