Abstract
THIS 1976 ASSESSMENT OF HERMANTOWN'S EXISTING POLICE DEPARTMENT WAS UNDERTAKEN TO EXAMINE THE NEWLY INCORPORATED CITY'S NEED FOR EXTENDED POLICE SERVICES. INFORMATION NEEDED TO COMPILE THIS REPORT WAS ASSEMBLED BY A CONSULTANT FROM INTERVIEWS WITH POLICE DEPARTMENT OFFICIALS. THE REPORT IS PRESENTED IN THREE PARTS: A BRIEF OVERVIEW OF THE HERMANTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT, A PRESENTATION OF THE ALTERNATIVE APPROACHES TO POLICE SERVICE AND THEIR COST IMPLICATIONS, AND A SUGGESTION FOR DEVELOPING SOME NEEDED POLICE MANAGEMENT INFORMATION.
