Abstract
THIS BRIEFING, PREPARED FOR THE NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF LAW ENFORCEMENT AND CRIMINAL JUSTICE, HAS BEEN PRESENTED TO ORGANIZATIONS WITHIN LEAA AND TO EACH OF THE EIGHT IMPACT CITIES. A BACKGROUND OF THE NATIONAL IMPACT PROGRAM IS FIRST PROVIDED, AND THE ORGANIZATION OF MAJOR FUNCTIONAL UNITS WITHIN LEAA AND OTHER GROUPS INVOLVED IN THE NATIONAL IMPACT PROGRAM IS DESCRIBED. THE EVALUATION PROGRAM ITSELF IS THEN OUTLINED, INCLUDING THE OBJECTIVES AND LEVELS OF EVALUATION AND THE ROLES OF ALL UNITS INVOLVED IN THE EVALUATION PROCESS. FINALLY, A BROAD OVERVIEW OF THE ACTIVITIES THE NATIONAL INSTITUTE AND MITRE WILL PERFORM IN CARRYING OUT THE NATIONAL IMPACT PROGRAM EVALUATION IS PROVIDED.
