REPORT EXPLAINS HOW AN AUTOMATED COURT INFORMATION SYSTEM CAN SAVE TIME AND MONEY FOR VENTURA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, COURTS.
Abstract
FROM 1967-74, THE SUPERIOR COURT OF VENTURA COUNTY UNDERWENT A 54 PERCENT CASELOAD INCREASE, PROMPTING THE NEED FOR AN AUTOMATED RECORDKEEPING SYSTEM TO STEAMLINE OPERATIONS. BASIC SOFTWARE FOR AN AUTOMATED SYSTEM ALREADY EXISTS IN THE MUNICIPAL COURT, ALTHOUGH IT NEEDS TO BE ADOPTED TO THE SUPERIOR COURT. THE REPORT RECOMMENDS DRAFTING A PROJECT OUTLINE AND ORIENTATION PLAN TO FIT THE SYSTEM NEEDS, AND SELECTION OF THE PROPER HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE. SOFTWARE SIMILAR TO THAT ALREADY IN USE AT THE MUNICIPAL COURT SHOULD BE ACQUIRED; THE CASE INDEXING, ACTIVITY, AND HISTORY COMPONENTS OF THAT SYSTEM WOULD BE APPROPRIATE FOR SUPERIOR COURT USE....BS
