REPORT OFFERS SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO SIMPLIFY AND RENDER UNIFORM THE PROCEDURES AND OPERATIONS IN THE DISTRICT JUSTICE COURT OFFICE.
Abstract
DUE TO THE EXPANSION OF THIS COURT'S JURISDICTION, DEMANDS AND STRESS ARE INCREASING IN THE DISTRICT JUSTICE SYSTEM. AT THE TIME OF THE STUDY, THERE WAS NO SYSTEMATIC METHOD FOR RECRUITMENT OF SECRETARIAL STAFF, AND THERE WAS NO FORMAL TRAINING OR ORIENTATION FOR THEM. ANOTHER HANDICAP FACED IN EACH OFFICE WAS INADEQUATE RECORD FORMS. THERE WAS ALSO A LACK OF UNIFORMITY IN EACH OFFICE, AND EACH OFFICE HAD DIFFERENT CASE CROSS-REFERENCING METHODS. THE STUDY RECOMMENDED THE RECLASSIFICATION OF SECRETARIES, THE DEVELOPMENT OF APPROPRIATE OFFICE PROCEDURES, THE PREPARATION OF A MANUAL TO DESCRIBE THE DAY-TO-DAY OFFICE OPERATION, THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A FORMAL TRAINING PROGRAM, AND THE APPOINTMENT OF AN ASSISTANT TO THE DEPUTY COURT ADMINISTRATOR....BS
