Abstract
THE FOUR-PHASE COURT STUDY PROGRAM DISCUSSED DURING THIS CONFERENCE IS GEARED TOWARD DEVELOPING A MISSISSIPPI COMPREHENSIVE MASTER COURT PLAN WITHIN A YEAR'S TIME. THE FIRST PHASE INCLUDES A PRELIMINARY QUESTIONNAIRE SURVEY OF JUDGES, DISTRICT ATTORNEYS, AND COURT CLERKS IN NINE SELECTED COUNTY COURT SYSTEMS TO PRE-TEST THE SURVEY INSTRUMENT. ON-SITE FIELD STUDY OF THE SELECTED SYSTEMS COMPRISES PHASE TWO. PHASE THREE CONSISTS OF EVALUATIONS OF PHASES ONE AND TWO, ANALYSIS OF THE DATA, AND THE DESIGN OF THE COMPREHENSIVE MASTER PLAN INDICATING THE SPECIFIC NEEDS OF THE COURT SYSTEM. PHASE FOUR FOCUSES ON THE ACTUAL CONDUCTING OF THE COMPREHENSIVE STATEWIDE SURVEYS AND THE PRODUCTION OF A MASTER COURTS PLAN. COMMENTARIES BY EACH OF THE NATIONAL ORGANIZATION REPRESENTATIVES ARE PROVIDED. FOLLOWING THESE COMMENTARIES ARE REMARKS PREPARED BY THE INDIVIDUAL CONSULTANTS FOCUSING ON THE NEED FOR OBTAINING ADEQUATE DATA ON ALL PHASES OF COURT ACTIVITY IN THE STATE AND ON OBTAINING COMPREHENSIVE INFORMATION REGARDING THE PROVISION AND QUALITY OF PROSECUTORIAL AND DEFENSE SERVICES IN THE STATE....ELW
