Abstract
AN INTRODUCTION TO CRIME PREVENTION THEORY IS PRESENTED, WHICH EXPLAINS WHAT CRIME RESULTS FROM, AND HOW IT CAN BE REDUCED. POLICE CRIME PREVENTION DUTIES ARE INCLUDED IN THIS SECTION. THESE INCLUDE INFORMATION, AID, AND ENFORCEMENT. TRADITIONAL CRIME PREVENTION PROGRAMS INCLUDE JUVENILE DELINQUENCY PREVENTION, REHABILITATION, AND DRUG AND ALCOHOL CENTERS. EVALUATION OF THESE PROGRAMS IS GAUGED BY THE NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS IN THEM, AND BY THE RATE OF RECIDIVISM. OTHER CRIME PREVENTION PROGRAMS LISTED INCLUDE POLICE DEPARTMENT PROGRAMS TO CUT THE RATE OF BURGLARIES, LARCENIES, AND ROBBERIES.
