A SERIES OF SUMMARY TABLES CONTAINING NATIONAL DATA ON PAROLE OUTCOMES, WITH TWO-YEAR FOLLOW-UPS, FOR MALES AND FEMALES PAROLED IN 1972, PRESENTED AS PART OF THE UNIFORM PAROLE REPORTS.
Abstract
THE PAROLE OUTCOMES REPORTED INCLUDE: CONTINUED ON PAROLE; ABSCONDER; RETURN TO PRISON AS TECHNICAL VIOLATOR; RETURN TO PRISON NO VIOLATION; AND RECOMMITTED TO PRISON WITH NEW MAJOR CONVICTION(S). THESE PAROLE OUTCOMES ARE TABULATED FOR SUCH FACTORS AS COMMITMENT OFFENSE, TYPE OF ADMISSION TO PRISON, PRIOR PRISON SENTENCES, PRIOR NON-PRISON SENTENCES, AND DRUG AND ALCOHOL ABUSE. SEPARATE DATA TABLES ARE PROVIDED FOR MALE AND FEMALE OFFENDERS. THE TREND ANALYSES SHOWED THAT FOR MALE PAROLEES RELEASED IN 1971, 1972, AND 1973 WITH TWO YEAR FOLLOW-UPS, THE PROPORTION CONTINUED ON PAROLE INCREASED WHILE THOSE RETURNED TO PRISON AS TECHNICAL VIOLATORS DECREASED. ABSCONDERS AND MEN RECOMMITTED TO PRISON WITH NEW MAJOR VIOLATIONS REMAINED STABLE. THE TRENDS FOR FEMALE PAROLEES WERE THE SAME AS THOSE OF MALE PAROLEES....DMC
