TRANSCRIPT OF A CONFERENCE THAT DEALT WITH EMPLOYMENT AND THE REDUCTION OF CRIME.
Abstract
THERE WERE SEVERAL OBJECTIVES TO THE CONFERENCE. THESE INCLUDED EXAMINING THE ROLE THAT INCREASED EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES COULD HAVE FOR POTENTIAL OFFENDERS AND EX-OFFENDERS ALONG WITH THE TRADITIONAL ROLES OF PUNISHMENT AND ISOLATION, AND EXAMINING THE EFFORTS BEING MADE BY BUSINESS AND LABOR IN TRAINING AND EMPLOYING OFFENDERS. THE CONFERENCE ALSO REVIEWED THE NEEDS OF EMPLOYERS AND THE EDUCATION AND TRAINING PROGRAMS NECESSARY TO PREPARE OFFENDERS TO MEET THOSE NEEDS.
