FROM THE 1800'S AND BEFORE THERE HAS BEEN WIDESCALE IRISH RESISTANCE TO BRITISH RULE IN NORTHERN IRELAND. IN THE 20TH CENTURY, ACCORDING TO THE AUTHOR, IRISH NATIONALISTS CARRIED OUT ONE OF THE FIRST ANTI-COLONIAL WARS OF LIBERATION AGAINST THE BRITISH. THIS, THE PAPER ASSERTS, WAS DUE TO THE STRATEGY OF SUBJUGATION CARRIED OUT BY THE BRITISH COLONISTS.
