THIS REPORT INDICATES THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE MANAGEMENT AND ADMINISTRATIVE STATISTICAL (MAS) SYSTEM IN ITS ABILITY TO PROVIDE CRIMINAL JUSTICE MANAGERS AND ELECTED OFFICIALS WITH A BODY OF RELEVANT INFORMATION.
Abstract
INFORMATION IN THE MAS SYSTEM ON FINANCIAL OPERATIONS INCLUDE PER CAPITA COST AND EXPENDITURES BY ACTIVITY, SUBJECT AND SUBORDINATE ORGANIZATION FOR EACH ORGANIZATION IN THE DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS. MAS INFORMATION ABOUT PERSONNEL INCLUDES STAFFING, VACANCIES, TURNOVER RATES BY ORGANIZATION AND CLASSIFICATION, AND INFORMATION NEEDED BY SUPERVISORS FOR PERSONNEL ADMINISTRATION. MAS INFORMATION ON PROBATION AND PAROLE DIVISION MANAGEMENT INCLUDES SUMMARY INFORMATION ON CASE LOADS AT EACH DISTRICT OFFICE. DURING THE CONDUCT OF THIS STUDY, SEVERAL AREAS WERE IDENTIFIED IN WHICH COMPUTER BASED INFORMATION SYSTEMS COULD ASSIST THE DEPARTMENT. THESE INCLUDE REPORTING OF OVERTIME, SICK AND ANNUAL LEAVE HOURS, REPORTING VACANCY, AND INMATE TRUST ACCOUNTING.
