THIS EVALUATION REPORTS THE RESULTS OF PROGRAMS TO REDUCE RECIDIVISM AMONG ADULT FIRST-TIMERS, REDUCE THE WORKLOAD OF THE DISTRICT JUDGE, AND REDUCE PROCESSING COSTS, AMONG OTHER THINGS.
Abstract
THE STUDY FOUND THAT FEWER PARTICIPANTS IN THE PROJECT WERE BEING REARRESTED. THE WORKLOAD OF THE DISTRICT JUDGE, COUNTY ATTORNEY, AND THE STATE ADULT PAROLE AND PROBATION OFFICER HAD BEEN CUT. THE PROJECT, HOWEVER, DID NOT SUCCEED IN CUTTING THE COST OF PROCESSING PARTICIPANTS. COSTS CONTINUED TO RISE. THE PROJECT WAS FOUND TO HAVE ASSISTED IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF KNOWLEDGE CONCERNING THE IMPLEMENTATION AND OPERATION OF RURAL PRETRIAL DIVERSION PROJECTS....BDS
