Abstract
A HANDBOOK FOR PRACTICING ATTORNEYS AND RELATED PROFESSIONALS, THIS SURVEY OF RECENT CHANGES IN THE FIELD CRIMINAL DEFENSE INCLUDES: CRIMINAL DEFENSE DECISIONS THE UNITED STATES SUPREME COURT DURING THE 1975-76 SESSION, RECENT RULINGS AFFECTING THE EXCLUSIONARY RULE, STATE AND FEDERAL COURT DECISIONS AFFECTING THE USE OF CONFESSIONS, A SERIES OF NINE PAPERS DISCUSSING FOURTH AMENDMENT QUESTIONS, AND A REVIEW OF RECENT DECISIONS AFFECTING SEARCH AND SEIZURE. A SECTION ON STATE CONSTITUTIONAL ATTACKS AGAINST CRIMINAL PROSECUTIONS EXAMINES THE IMPACT ON LOCAL POLICE COURT PROCEDURES. THE PRACTICAL ASPECTS OF WRITS, THE TRADITIONAL AS WELL AS THE CREATIVE USE OF TRIAL MOTIONS, AND PRAGMATIC ASPECTS OF TRIAL PRACTICE ARE COVERED. THE FINAL SECTION CONSIDERS ADMISSIBILITY OF EVIDENCE, TRIAL TACTICS IN INTRODUCTION OF EVIDENCE, REMOTE IDENTIFICATION BY FORWARD-LOOKING INFRARED, MEETING EXPERT TESTIMONY, AND TWO CASES OF 'EXPERT' WITNESSES WHO COULD NOT PROCEDURE EXPERT TESTIMONY.
