Abstract
OBJECTIVES OF THE 16-WEEK, 48-SESSION COURSE ARE TO PROMOTE THE STUDENTS' UNDERSTANDING OF THE CONCEPTS, CONTROLS, AND PROCESSES OF JUVENILE JUSTICE, THE INTERRELATIONSHIPS OF THE COMPONENTS OF THE JUVENILE JUSTICE SYSTEM, AND THE WORKINGS OF THE JUVENILE JUSTICE SYSTEMS IN THEIR OWN COMMUNITIES. THE INSTRUCTOR'S GUIDE INCLUDES A COURSE OUTLINE, CASE STUDIES, A BIBLIOGRAPHY, AND THREE MULTIPLE-CHOICE TESTS FOR USE AT THE BEGINNING OF THE COURSE, AT MID-TERM. AND AT THE END OF THE COURSE. AMONG THE TOPICS NOTED IN THE COURSE OUTLINE ARE THE FOLLOWING: THE CONCEPT OF JUVENILE JUSTICE; THE NATURE OF JUVENILE DELINQUENCY IN THE UNITED STATES; THE POLICE OFFICER AND JUVENILE JUSTICE ADMINISTRATION; THE JUVENILE INVESTIGATOR; THE PROBATION OFFICER AND DELINQUENCY; DIVERTING YOUTHS FROM THE JUSTICE SYSTEM; THE ROLE OF SCHOOLS IN JUVENILE DELINQUENCY; THE JUVENILE COURT AND ITS STAFF; JUVENILE CORRECTIONS; AND THE FUTURE OF THE JUVENILE JUSTICE SYSTEM.
