TECHNIQUES FOR HURTING OR SURPRISING AN ATTACKER IN A SITUATION IN WHICH THE VICTIM'S LIFE IS NOT THREATENED ARE DESCRIBED; THE FILMSTRIP AND CASSETTE PRESENTATION IS DESIGNED FOR FEMALE STUDENTS AND OTHER WOMEN.
Abstract
A DISTINCTION IS MADE BETWEEN SERIOUS ATTACKS, IN WHICH THE VICTIM MUST DEFEND HER LIFE BY SERIOUSLY INJURING THE ATTACKER, AND NONSERIOUS ATTACKS, IN WHICH THE VICTIM'S LIFE IS NOT IN DANGER AND THE ATTACKER MUST BE DISCOURAGED BY CAUSING HIM PAIN WITHOUT SERIOUS INJURY. ONE'S OWN JUDGMENT MUST BE USED TO DETERMINE THE SERIOUSNESS OF THE ATTACK AND WHICH TARGETS ARE AVAILABLE. SOME OF THE TARGETS DEPICTED INCLUDE THE SIDE OF THE NECK, THE SOLAR PLEXUS, THE FOREARM, THE WRIST, THE BACK OF THE HAND, THE FINGER JOINTS, THE SHIN, THE ANKLE, AND THE ACHILLES TENDON. AS SOON AS THE ATTACKER HAS BEEN DISCOURAGED, THE VICTIM SHOULD SEEK SAFETY AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE.
