STANDARDS TO GUIDE THE IMPROVEMENT OF MONTANA'S COURT SYSTEM ARE SET FORTH BY A TASK FORCE OF THE STATE'S COUNCIL ON CRIMINAL JUSTICE STANDARDS AND GOALS.
Abstract
EACH STANDARD IS ACCOMPANIED BY A SUMMARY OR PERTINENT TASK FORCE FINDINGS, SUGGESTIONS FOR IMPLEMENTATION, AND INDICATION OF THE COUNCIL'S ACTION ON THE STANDARD. THE FOLLOWING ASPECTS OF THE STATE'S COURT SYSTEM ARE ADDRESSED: SCREENING; DIVERSION; PLEA NEGOTIATION; THE LITIGATED CASE (INCLUDING SUCH MATTERS AS THE USE OF CITATIONS AND SUMMONS IN LIEU OF DETENTION, PRETRIAL PROCEDURES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF COURT AND COUNSEL).
