A STATISTICAL AND NARRATIVE REPORT PRESENTS COSTS OF OPERATIONS AND DATA ON PAROLES GRANTED AND REVOKED, PROBATIONS GRANTED AND REVOKED, AND PARDONS.
Abstract
OPERATION OF ALABAMA'S BOARD OF PARDONS AND PAROLES COSTS $3,056,129 IN 1976-1977. A TOTAL OF 2,146 PAROLES WERE CONSIDERED, WITH 1,273 GRANTED. OF THESE, 556 WERE LATER CONSIDERED DELINQUENT, 352 WERE REVOKED, AND 99 HAD THE DELINQUENCY VOIDED OR WERE REINSTATED. DURING THE PAST 38 YEARS 32,963 PAROLES HAVE BEEN GRANTED, 9,019 REVOKED. IN 1976-1977 THE OFFICE ALSO GRANTED 4,301 PROBATIONS, REVOKED 612, MADE 3,176 PRESENTENCE INVESTIGATIONS, AND 2,954 YOUTHFUL OFFENDER INVESTIGATIONS. OF A TOTAL OF 82,809 PROBATIONS GRANTED DURING THE PAST 38 YEARS, 12,120 HAVE BEEN REVOKED. CURRENT PROBATION AND PAROLE STATISTICS ARE GIVEN BY COUNTY. IN ADDITION, THE BOARD HANDLED 55 PARDONS, 645 RESTORATIONS OF CIVIL AND POLITICAL RIGHTS, AS WELL AS 934 CLIENTS BEING SUPERVISED FOR OTHER STATES. (GLR)
