THE ACTIVITIES OF THE STATE AGENCY RESPONSIBLE FOR ESTABLISHING UNIFORM MINIMUM STANDARDS FOR THE SELECTION AND TRAINING OF POLICE OFFICERS IN ALASKA ARE REPORTED.
Abstract
BACKGROUND INFORMATION ON THE TRAINING ACADEMY FOR STATE TROOPERS AND ON MUNICIPAL TRAINING PROGRAMS FOR LOCAL POLICE PERSONNEL IS PRESENTED, TOGETHER WITH INFORMATION ON UNIVERSITY PROGRAMS IN POLICE SCIENCE. THE STATE'S BASIC AND SUPPLEMENTAL TRAINING PROGRAMS AND COURSES ARE DESCRIBED, TRAINING REQUIREMENTS ARE SPECIFIED, AND THE TRAINING STATUS OF LAW ENFORCEMENT PERSONNEL IN ALASKA IS DEPICTED IN GRAPHS. THE COUNCIL'S ACTIONS ON RECOMMENDATIONS REGARDING TRAINING SET FORTH IN A COMMISSION REPORT ON CRIMINAL JUSTICE STANDARDS AND GOALS ARE SUMMARIZED, AS ARE PROCEEDINGS OF MEETING OF THE COUNCIL AND OF A POLICE TASK FORCE ON CRIMINAL JUSTICE STANDARDS AND GOALS.
