PROMINENT OR PRECEDENT-SETTING COURT CASES IN THE FIELDS OF PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT, PERSONNEL TESTING, AND COLLEGE ADMISSIONS ARE SUMMARIZED. THE DECISIONS WERE MADE IN U.S. AND STATE COURTS, 1975-1976.
Abstract
THE 82 CASES DEAL WITH DISCRIMINATION IN EMPLOYMENT OR PROMOTION, ADMISSION TO PROFESSIONAL SCHOOLS, AND VIOLATIONS OF CIVIL RIGHTS. EACH SUMMARY CARRIES INDEX TERMS ('AGE DISCRIMINATION,' 'SEX DISCRIMINATION,' 'WRITTEN EXAMINATIONS,' ETC.) AND A TOPICAL INDEX IS APPENDED. MOST OF THE DECISIONS WERE HANDED DOWN BY EITHER THE UNITED STATES SUPREME COURT OR A U.S. DISTRICT COURT OF APPEALS. HOWEVER, A FEW STATE COURT DECISIONS ARE INCLUDED. APPENDIXES PROVIDE AN OVERVIEW OF THE U.S. COURT SYSTEM, A MAP OF THE FEDERAL JUDICIAL CIRCUITS, AND A BRIEF LEGAL GLOSSARY. (GLR)
