INFORMATION AND SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO PREPARE FOR AND ADMINISTER A PHYSICAL PEFORMANCE TEST FOR POLICE OFFICER CANDIDATES IS PRESENTED.
Abstract
PREPARATION CONSIDERATIONS DISCUSSED IN THE MANUAL INCLUDE SPACE REQUIREMENTS, CANDIDATE IDENTIFICATION, AND CANDIDATE PROCESSING. A CANDIDATE IDENTIFICATION FORM SAMPLE IS PROVIDED. SPECIFIC INFORMATION IS PRESENTED ON ALL DETAILS OF TEST ADMINISTRATION AND A LIST OF NECESSARY EQUIPMENT AND ADMINISTRATIVE PERSONNEL IS GIVEN. THE LAYOUT AND SEQUENCE OF TEST EVENTS WHICH INCLUDE DRAGGING, PULLING, RUNNING, CRAWLING, CLIMBING, AND JUMPING ARE DEPICTED IN A CHART AND THE CORRESPONDING PROCEDURE IS DESCRIBED. THE TEST SCORING PROCEDURE IS COVERED, AND SCORES ARE BASED ON THE TOTAL TIME REQUIRED FOR EACH CANDIDATE TO COMPLETE THE TEST. OUTLINED IN THE MANUAL ARE A LIST OF ACTIVITIES TO BE PERFORMED BY THE ADMINISTRATION BEFORE, DURING, AND AFTER EACH CANDIDATE'S PERFORMANCE. A SCRIPT FOR INSTRUCTION EXPLANATION IS INCLUDED, AND IT IS SUGGESTED THAT THE CANDIDATES BE GIVEN A COPY OF THIS SCRIPT AND OF THE DIAGRAM OF TESTING EVENTS PREVIOUS TO TAKING THE TEST. (DAG)
