OREGON'S CRIMINAL JUSTICE ACTION PLAN FOR FISCAL 1979 IS PRESENTED.
Abstract
THE PLAN CONSTITUTES A STATEWIDE ASSESSMENT OF PROGRAMS AND PROBLEMS TO BE ADDRESSED THROUGH THE FUNDING OF PROJECTS DURING FISCAL 1979. NINE PROGRAMS ARE INCLUDED: SYSTEMWIDE PLANNING, DATA BASE DEVELOPMENT, AND EVALUATION; NONRESIDENTIAL CORRECTIONS SERVICES; INSTITUTIONAL CORRECTIONS PROGRAMS; ADJUDICATION RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT (COURTS, PROSECUTION, AND DEFENSE); IMPROVEMENT OF ADJUDICATION OPERATIONAL STRATEGIES (VICTIMS, JURORS, AND WITNESSES); ENFORCEMENT RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT (RESOURCE CONTRACTING AND SHARING, RESPONSE TIME AND COMMUNICATIONS, EMERGENCY OPERATIONS); ENFORCEMENT STRATEGY IMPROVEMENT (PROPERTY AND VIOLENT CRIME); PREVENTION OF CRIMES BY JUVENILES; AND IMPROVEMENT OF THE JUVENILE JUSTICE SYSTEM. FOR EACH PROGRAM AREA INFORMATION IS PRESENTED ON THE PROBLEMS BEING ADDRESSED, GOALS, OBJECTIVES, STANDARDS, STRATEGIES, TYPES OF PROJECTS ANTICIPATED, ACTIONS TO BE TAKEN BY THE STATE LAW ENFORCEMENT COUNCIL AND STATE PLANNING AGENCY STAFF, MULTIYEAR (1980 AND 1981) PROJECTIONS OF ACCOMPLISHMENTS, AND BUDGETS. THE SECTION ON TYPES OF PROJECTS PROVIDES POTENTIAL FUNDING APPLICANTS WITH DETAILS ON ELIGIBILITY, CRITERIA FOR SELECTION, AND OTHER PROJECT SPECIFICATIONS. THE BUDGET SECTION SHOWS ALLOCATIONS FOR VARIOUS CATEGORIES OF PLANNING DISTRICTS (FULL SERVICE AND RURAL) AND FOR STATEWIDE PROGRAMS. PROCEDURES FOR SUBMITTING FUNDING APPLICATIONS ARE INCLUDED.
