THE HISTORY, TRAINING ACTIVITIES, ORGANIZATION, FACILITIES, AND RELATED ASPECTS OF THE SOLNA POLICE COLLEGE IN SWEDEN ARE DESCRIBED.
Abstract
THE COLLEGE, ORIGINALLY THE CENTRAL TRAINING ESTABLISHMENT FOR ALL SWEDISH POLICE TRAINING, CURRENTLY HANDLES ALL REGULAR ADVANCED POLICE TRAINING AS WELL AS SPECIAL COURSES. (ANOTHER INSTITUTION PROVIDES BASIC TRAINING, TRAFFIC TRAINING, AND CERTAIN ADVANCED TRAINING.) COURSE DESCRIPTIONS OF THOSE COURSES CURRENTLY OFFERED AT THE SOLNA POLICE COLLEGE INCLUDE THE ADVANCED POLICE COURSE, TWO INSPECTOR COURSES, A SUPERINTENDENT COURSE, POLICE COMMISSIONER TRAINING, AND SPECIAL COURSES COVERING SUCH TOPICS AS INVESTIGATING TAX LAW CRIMES AND TECHNIQUES FOR DETECTIVES. THE COLLEGE'S STAFF INCLUDES AN ADMINISTRATIVE UNIT, 19 FULLTIME TEACHERS, AND 325 PART-TIME TEACHERS (LAWYERS, PHYSICIANS, TECHNICIANS, POLICEMEN, ETC). THE COLLEGE CAN HANDLE 400 STUDENTS AT A TIME. ITS CAMPUS INCLUDES THREE BUILDINGS AND SPACE FOR OUTDOOR PHYSICAL TRAINING.
