Abstract
DISCUSSIONS CENTER ON THE CRITICISMS LEVELED AT THE TRADITIONAL AND MORE RECENT TENDENCIES OF CRIMINAL POLICY WITH REGARD TO THE PROBLEMS OF ROAD TRAFFIC. ATTENTION IS GIVEN TO THE EVOLUTION OF PENAL LAW IN ROAD TRAFFIC, TO THE SCOPE OF TRAFFIC CRIME CONTROL, TO AN ASSESSMENT OF DIFFERENT APPROACHES TO TRAFFIC CRIMINALITY, AND, MORE SPECIFICALLY, TO SOME ASPECTS OF TRAFFIC-RELATED CRIMINALITY IN THE U.S. REPRESENTATIVES OF BELGIUM, THE UNITED KINGDOM, AND THE NETHERLANDS LOOK AT PROBLEMS BEING POSED IN THEIR RESPECTIVE COUNTRIES THAT EVOLVE FROM THE PENAL SYSTEM AND ROAD TRAFFIC, AND THE ROLE OF THE POLICE AND OTHER CRIMINAL JUSTICE OFFICIALS. VARIOUS EXPLANATIONS OF TRAFFIC OFFENDER PERSONALITIES ARE OFFERED, TOGETHER WITH EXAMINATIONS OF THE EFFECTIVENESS OF DIFFERENT COUNTRIES, SANCTIONS AND THE SITUATION OF THE VICTIMS OF INFRINGEMENTS OF THE ROAD-TRAFFIC LEGISLATION. THE SERIOUSNESS OF TRAFFIC CRIMINALITY IS ANALYZED, ALONG WITH THE INDIFFERENCE OF THE PUBLIC TO THE OFFENSES AND THE SANCTIONS DESCRIBED BY TRAFFIC CRIMINALITY. FINALLY, DISCUSSIONS THAT OCCURRED AFTER PAPER PRESENTATIONS AT THE COLLOQUIUM ARE PROVIDED, AS ARE LISTS SHOWING THE GENERAL ORGANIZATION, THE EXPERTS, THE DELEGATES OF THE GOVERNMENTS, THE PARTICIPANTS, AND THE DELEGATES OF THE SCIENTIFIC ORGANIZATIONS REPRESENTED AT THE COLLOQUIUM.
