Abstract
STATISTICS CAME FROM THE U.S. BUREAU OF THE CENSUS AND THROUGH QUESTIONNAIRES SENT TO ALL STATE CORRECTIONS DEPARTMENTS, INCLUDING THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA AND PUERTO RICO. THE QUESTIONNAIRE INQUIRED ABOUT BUDGETS, PROFESSIONAL STAFF, ALLOCATIONS FOR RESEARCH ACTIVITIES, COMPUTERIZED INFORMATION SYSTEM, CLASSIFICATIONS AND NUMBERS OF ADULT INMATES, COURT ACTIONS ON INMATE LIMITATIONS, AND A BRIEF SUMMARY OF RESEARCH ACTIVITES. THE REPORT INCLUDES THE QUESTIONNAIRE AND ITS COVER LETTER, STATISTICAL TABLES, AND ANSWERS FROM THOSE STATES WHICH DID HAVE COURT ACTIONS. (JLF)
