THIS 1979 STATE UNIFORM CRIME REPORT (UCR) SUMMARIZES CRIME IN HAWAII, USING OFFENSE AND ARREST STATISTICS AND COMPARISONS TO 1978.
Abstract
ALL SEVEN F.B.I. UCR INDEX CRIME RATES INCREASED IN 1979 AS COMPARED TO 1978, WITH THE TOTAL RATE INCREASING BY 111.6 PER 100,000 POPULATION. HOWEVER, POLICE RECOVERED 32.1 PERCENT OF REPORTED PROPERTY STOLEN IN 1979, COMPARED TO THE 1978 RECOVERY RATE OF 27.3 PERCENT. INDEX CRIMES ACCOUNTED FOR 31.5 PERCENT OF ALL ARRESTS, AND 29.6 PERCENT OF ALL ARRESTS WERE JUVENILE ARRESTS. DRUG VIOLATION ARRESTS AND THE PERCENTAGE OF JUVENILE GAMBLING ARRESTS BOTH DECREASED IN 1979 AS COMPARED TO 1978. TABLES, CHARTS, GRAPHS, DIAGRAMS, AND CRIME CLOCKS ON INDEX CRIMES AND OFFENSE AND ARREST STATISTICS ARE INCLUDED AND FOLLOWED BY UCR DEFINITIONS. (JLF)
