A TEAM APPROACH FOCUSES ON THE UNDERLYING PROBLEMS OF CHILD ABUSE AND DISCUSSES A CONTRACT ARRANGEMENT PARENTS HAVE MADE IN ORDER TO KEEP THEIR 2YEAR-OLD-BOY.
Abstract
TEAM MEMBERS, INCLUDING A PSYCHIATRIST, PUBLIC HEALTH NURSE, AND PARENT AIDE DISCUSS THE REMEDIAL CONTRACT AGREED TO BY THE ABUSING PARENTS IN ORDER TO BRING BACK THEIR 2-YEAR-OLD SON WHO IS CURRENTLY IN A FOSTER HOME FOLLOWING AN INCIDENT OF ABUSE. PROBLEMS OF BOTH PARENTS, MADE MORE DIFFICULT BY THE HUSBAND'S EX-OFFENDER STATUS, CURRENT UNEMPLOYMENT, AND HIS WIFE'S PREGNANCY ARE EXAMINED. PARTS OF THE CONTRACT AGREEMENT ARE EXPLORED INCLUDING USE OF THE PARENT AIDE AND PUBLIC HEALTH NURSE AND PSYCHIATRIC TREATMENT FOR BOTH PARENTS. TEAM EFFORTS TO HELP RELIEVE THE DAY-BY-DAY FRUSTRATIONS OF THE ABUSING PARENTS ARE SHOWN AND THE FILM ENDS WITH A COMMITMENT TO CONTINUING TEAM HELP FOR THE PARENTS AFTER THE 6-MONTH TRIAL PERIOD.
