BACKGROUND MATERIALS ON THE OPENING OF NEW CORRECTIONAL FACILITIES ARE INCLUDED IN THIS RESOURCE GUIDE FOR A TRAINING SEMINAR SPONSORED BY THE NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF CORRECTIONS JAIL CENTER IN 1979.
Abstract
THE JOURNAL ARTICLES, OUTLINES, SPEECHES, AND PAPERS WERE COLLECTED BY EXPERTS IN CORRECTIONS MANAGEMENT. THE FIRST SECTION CONTAINS MATERIALS RELATING TO THE TASK FORCE APPROACH TO OPENING NEW FACILITIES. IN THE SECOND SECTION, LEGAL ISSUES ARE CONSIDERED, AND A BIBLIOGRAPHY FOR LAW IN CORRECTIONS IS PROVIDED. THE THIRD SECTION CONCERNS TRAINING AND STAFF DEVELOPMENT AND INCLUDES PAPERS DETAILING THE SETTING UP OF TRAINING PROGRAMS. THE FOURTH SECTION COVERS MANAGEMENT TECHNIQUES AND SKILLS IN THE AREAS OF PLANNING, GROUP DYNAMICS, ORGANIZATION DEVELOPMENT, COMMUNICATIONS, DECISIONMAKING, AND PROBLEM SOLVING. SEMINAL HANDOUTS ARE INCLUDED IN AN APPENDIX.
