The U.S. Chamber of Commerce reports that white-collar crime costs the nation at least 40-billion dollars a year. The FBI has embarked on a program to intensify its efforts against such crime by holding seminars at its academy to bring agent accountants up to date on new methods which white-collar criminals are using, and by holding companion seminars for U.S. district attorneys. The agency is also planning to offer training to local, State, and Federal agencies. The current week-long seminars include lectures on computer crime, training in computer programming, and discussions led by representatives of other Government agencies, of university schools of business, and of the accounting profession.
