Data in tables show the number of criminal cases tried at various court levels in the Dutch court districts for the years 1975 to 1977 according to broad categories of case types. Information on military trials is included. Data on civil cases from 1975 to 1977 relate to the number of cases at the various court levels and to the manner of case settlement. Data on administrative decisions list the number of decisions and kind of settlement in the areas of social insurance law, pension law, government service, tax matters, actions of business organizations under public law, and matters of the Council of State. Also included are data on the number and origin of extradition requests to the Netherlands from 1975 to 1977 and on the staff of civil courts, military courts, and administrative bodies with legal decisionmaking functions in 1977. Further tables contain data on numbers, types, and course of cases at the supreme court, the courts of justice, district courts, and magistrate's courts. A graph traces trends in the number of crimes known to police, of crimes known to the police in which a suspect is apprehended, and cases prosecuted from 1960 to 1978.
