The accomlishments of New York's Statewide Violent Felony Warrant Enforcement Program are presented for March 1 through August 31, 1980, in this fourth semiannual implementation report.
Abstract
The program was established in October 1978 to coordinate the warrant enforcement efforts of the State's major criminal justice agencies by providing funding for several program conponents. Among thses are the increased staffing of police, probation, and parole agencies dedicated to the apprehension of violent felony offenders; thhe expansion of a statewide warrant notification system; the establishment of a parole registrant system; the improvement of the Stat's fingerprint facsimile transmission capabilities; and the hiring of staff to monitor and evaluate the program. The goal of these efforts is to identify and apprehend violent felony offenders who fail to appear in court when required. In the first section of this report, the focus is on implementation and organization; funding; administration, monitoring, and evaluation; major accomplishments; and recommendations. Data tables are included in attachments. The second section contains a copy of the third evaluation report, which covers the period January 1 through June 30, 1980. The report was conducted by the Statistical Analysis Center of the Division of Criminal Justice Services and focuses on warrants issued by the new automated warrant system. Data for both sectins are presented in tabular form.
